Urgent freight
Expedited freight is transportation arranged around an urgent pickup or delivery requirement, often using dedicated equipment, faster routing or additional operational oversight. Logistics Xpress coordinates expedited trucking and time-critical shipments from pickup through delivery.
Urgent freight requires more than locating an available vehicle. The transportation plan must account for realistic pickup timing, equipment fit, driver hours, appointments, shipment visibility and what happens if the original plan changes.

Depending on the shipment, lane and capacity available, options may include:
Availability and transit depend on the specific shipment and should be confirmed before tendering the freight.
Expedited transportation may be appropriate when:
Not every urgent shipment needs the largest or fastest equipment. The goal is to select the smallest suitable and realistically available option that can meet the deadline.
Cargo van or sprinter-style vehicle. Best for smaller shipments that fit within the vehicle’s available dimensions and payload. Dedicated cargo vans can reduce transfers and provide direct transportation for urgent freight.
Straight truck or box truck. Useful for shipments that exceed cargo-van capacity but do not require a full tractor-trailer. Confirm dock height, liftgate needs, pallet dimensions and payload before booking.
Full truckload. Appropriate when the shipment requires a 53-foot trailer, specific equipment, greater capacity or direct long-distance service. See alsofull truckload shipping.
Team-driver service. Team service may reduce stops required for driver rest on suitable long-distance truckload moves. It does not eliminate traffic, weather, facility delays or other operating constraints.
Provide:
Incomplete dimensions or unrealistic ready times can lead to the wrong equipment or an unreliable transit plan.
Pricing depends on:
Two urgent shipments traveling the same mileage can receive different rates because the available vehicle, pickup timing and delivery constraints are different.
If the shipment has flexibility, LTL, partial truckload or standard full truckload may provide a better value.
| Option | When it fits | Tradeoff |
|---|---|---|
| Expedited trucking | Firm deadlines and dedicated equipment needs | Higher premium for speed and exclusivity |
| LTL | Smaller palletized freight with schedule flexibility | Shared capacity and network transit |
| Partial / volume | Middle-ground freight between LTL and FTL | Less exclusive than dedicated expedited |
| Standard FTL | Dedicated capacity without emergency timing | Often lower cost than emergency expedite |
The communication plan should be established before pickup. Confirm:
Logistics Xpress combines shipment visibility through our transportation technology with direct access to the transportation team coordinating the move.
Logistics Xpress compares the available equipment and transportation modes against the actual deadline. Our team coordinates the provider, monitors the shipment and communicates exceptions throughout the move.
Because we manage multiple modes, we can help evaluate whether the shipment belongs on an expedited truck, team-driver truckload, international air service or another transportation option. Have an urgent shipment? Send the complete dimensions, weight, cargo-ready time and required delivery deadline so we can evaluate the most practical available plan.
